1960 BS and Teaching Credential in Mathematics & Physics from Purdue University
I went into teaching mathematics and later training mathematics teachers.
During the 1960s the first computer higer languages were created:
FORTRANALGOLand
COBOL
For the next ten years, these three languages were dominant. They were designed for science
and business, run on large computers used IBM cards for input and printers for output.
The program code was punched onto IBM cards, run through a compiler to get the machine code.
The machine code was either executed one job at a time or saved for later use.
1960-1963 Teaching Mathematics Washington High School, Indianapolis Indiana.
Built a
Heathkit Analog Computer.
(It was no better than a sliderule)
1963-1964 MS in Mathematics from University of Notre Dame
1964-1967 Teaching College Mathematics and Mathematics Education at
Northwest Missouri State College
1967-1969 Ed.D in Mathematics Education from Indiana University
To assist my dissertation, I wrote an computer program in FORTRAN used to analize the data.
It was an Analysis of Covariance. Later there were statistics packages available for researchers.
